    Lana C 105-001 - 105-008
    Jamie:
Abby and I were shooting on the very edge of one of the waterfalls in a pond just before the fall. It was amazingly deep. Abby was telling Lana "See, you can stand up in.... blah blah blah" Luckily, she didn't have the camera in her hand. So we ended up shooting on the edge with Abby on the camera and myself on the fleckie board. We tried to do this certain shot when Lana would put her head under water and would come up and look straight at the camera. We did this about 4 times and each time Lana looked like she had been slapped with a fish. So we decided to give that a rest. It was lucky that no one fell off the water fall and we found some place where you can stand up in the shoot work. Phew!
Verity: Cass found Lana at a local backpackers during our time on our secret locations shoot. Lana was sitting at a picnic table with a few of her travelling buddies, although she far too busy swatting mosquito's that were an endless harassment to even both to join the conversation. Cass sidled on in, slipped her a card and a quick wink and slipped away again. Lucky for us, Lana decided she'd give us a call. Aren't you pleased she did?

    Kyla 105-009 - 105-013
    Susie:
A true trooper this one. Poor Kyla had spent hours wandering around this particular part of the lake area, it was like an island I think, pretty hard to get to (Verity had to hold the vid camera above her head while she waded through the neck-high water to get there!) and it was a really hot day. The other two girls we shot that day had done a shoot in the beach and in the lake, but Kyla was stuck on hot, dry land, with no shoes! We got her to climb trees, stamp around in the prickly bush, and smile all at the same time, and did she ever! With no complaints, she rallied through both her stills and video shoot with an impressive attitude…then we said ‘Right Kyla, no time for a quick swim, back to work-we have to shoot you and your friends together now! Right now!’ And she even kept smiling.
Verity: On the way to the Tea Tree Lake, Kyla kept saying how cool this kind of modelling was and blatantly hinting for a job. She was offering to carry my bag for me and take some of the gear. Lovely lass, maybe we should give her a job...
Vivian: Kyla was our cute little Canadian shot amongst the tea trees. I enjoyed chatting with Kyla; we spent many minutes discussing her travel stories and even more time on her current and past relationships, great girl time!

    Kit 105-014 - 105-027
    Verity:
Going to Kit's place the second time around was much easier. After the last time, we knew exactly where to park etc. Her halls stank just as much the second time around as they did the first, so we quickly jumped in to her tiny little flat and got started. Well, not actually that quickly. We couldn't decide where to shoot and as we used the living room/bedroom/kitchen up last time, all that was really left was a tiny weenie loo. I don't think we'd be able to shoot Kit again, not at her place anyway, we'd definitely struggle, and we’d probably have to do it in the halls (that could be scary and funny if her neighbours were to make an appearance) or in the lift?? I don't think we'll be trying that one out just yet though, if we want to keep doing what we are doing.

    Justine 105-028 - 105-087
    Verity:
Justine arrived with just a tiny little ruck sack. Normally we ask the models to bring all the clothes they have so Jamie and I got a bit worried. But it turned out that she had brought a lot, they were just so small. She looked like she had gone shopping in the kids section. She had heaps of stories to tell me about her tattoos. She did them herself when she was 13! That can't be legal surely. Apparently it was her first love and they both tattooed each others names in on each other. I wasn't even interested in boys at 13. So I asked her if still saw him and...surprise surprise she hates his guts. No doubt she regrets doing it. The first time she came in for her shoot she got her period that morning so we didn't end up shooting her. Although she still wanted to do it and she had brought along a 'special sponge' that girls insert when they want to have sex whilst on their period. Or something like that, I wasn't really paying all that much attention but it just looked like a normal sponge to me. After the video I took Justine to have a really nice hot shower. She was meeting up with her mum afterwards and I guess she didn't want to stink of watermelon.
Jamie: Sometimes no matter how much you need to pee you just can't because there is a camera pointed straight at you and a bunch of towels all around to catch the overflow. This was the case in Justine's photo set. She just couldn't get it out. We gave her more and more water until she thought she was going to burst. But only a little dribble came out. I don't know how Verity managed to get her to do that for video. It must be something about her that just makes model want to try and pee on her.
Cass: Hey Justine, when we say get comfy in the lounge chair we don't mean that comfy. Poor Justine waited so long for Jamie and Abby to decide what colours they would like her in that she eventually curled up in to a little ball and made herself quite at home. Perhaps she was a cat in her last life. Lucky for us it didn't take much to wake her and get her jumping around again. Thanks Justine, you rock!
Susie: She was just so little! I thought that if I touched her she might snap! She had pretty long hair that she tossed around a lot, and a massive smile she flashed about too. Her body seemed so...oh, I dunno..small!

    Ivana 105-089 - 105-097
    Susie:
Ah, Ivana. She's easily the tiniest girl I have ever met, and how does she fit so much energy and love into that little body of hers?! It’s a mystery. We (obviously) shot this at sunset; it was a really awesome setting. Who cares how many people were wandering past? Not Ivana! She was waving at the passers-by, shaking her tiny toosh in their direction the entire time. It was great! After this shoot, Cass and Verity and I went down to the pub and when we walked in we heard this almighty shriek from somewhere in the beer garden - "...and those are the girls that did it!!" And there's Ivana, pint of beer in one hand and some guy's collar in the other, dragging him over to meet us and begin a long and winding tale about she came to be a nudie model. She's still travelling in her Kombi, fire-twirling and pashing cute boys apparently!

    Sybil 105-088 & 105-098
    Susie:
We really wanted to do a sunset shoot at this beautiful beach down the road, but there were always heaps of people around every time we went. “Hmmm…’” we thought. “All we need is a hot girl that doesn’t mind stripping off in public” Ask, and you shall receive. Sybil walked in and was like ‘Shoot on a beach? At sunset? Yeah!’ And so we all trudged down to the (pretty populated) beach at sunset and waited for the PERFECT light and.... voila!

    Christiana 105-099 - 105-113
    Vid Dude:
I had wanted to do something extremely creative in this epic vein for a long time, and had formulated this story using this character quite firmly in my mind, long before we had organised anything. Then, when I saw Christiana's video, where she tumbles and does handstands and shows off her fit muscular body, I knew immediately she was ideal for the role, and told Jamie so as soon as I could. Then we started organising the shoot proper, finding the perfect location (waterfall, jungle, clearing) and the right time of year to give a sense of heat and oppression.
We needed a costume, and I managed to piece those together myself - I'd had the guns for a couple of years already - except for the holsters, which had to be quite specific. That's when Jamie's friend Bee offered to make them for me, which she did a fine job of. So we were all set, and the shoot got started. I remember I got up early especially so we could make our way out to our location, on the far outskirts of Melbourne, and make the most of the daylight, but typically there was an accident in the middle of town and all the trams were diverted, so I ended up arriving at work at the regular time anyway!
The scenes with Christiana swimming in the water were the first we shot, she was willing to dip into the freezing cold water, with the slippery rocks, she was braver than I was. When I tried to get a wide shot, I sloshed around, nearly fell in, and was so cold I gave up. Instead I asked Christiana to just swim further away from me. I'm so lame.
The locations for running around were easy to find, and Christiana did a wonderful job. She looked so great in the costume, and was having such a fun time being an action star, she was game for anything. On our way to the waterfall, we had to trek for a half hour carrying all the gear, so it was a long hot day but the final location was well worth it - that waterfall was beautiful and quite refreshing.
When we returned to the car, we drove around looking for the fight scene location. Yes, that was actually shot a few km away from the river shots, that's the magic of cinema for you. We found this flat picnic area which worked well, and I shot a whole bunch of the gun fight, kick fight, and more there. This was Jamie's big scene, so she was very excited, but as she was also the driver for the day I think she was quite exhausted too. They managed to do their scenes together wonderfully - except for one shot where Christiana accidentally actually hit Jamie in the jaw with a kick! Wow, she went down! Luckily Jamie was all right, but it was quite a smack. It made for a good anecdote, anyway.
Once we were all packed up, we needed a good opening, and I had done some research and found that there was a tunnel nearby called "The Culvert" which was perfect as an entrance to a mysterious ancient ruin. It took us a while to find it, but it was well worth it, it had exactly the right look I was going for. All in all, I couldn't have asked for anything better.
The special effects required were easy for me to apply - gunfire and a CGI 3D helicopter - because that's what I do for a hobby. The final edit took some time, but it was worth the effort, as the final product was greeted with a very positive response. I consider this my first short film, which, though it was very rapidly shot and assembled in a very loose way, worked very well for what it was.
